TRT Clinics That Accept Outside Labs: Who Takes Your Bloodwork in 2026

We checked clinic policies on their own sites. Here's who accepts bring-your-own bloodwork, the panel that satisfies them, and when a clinic's own lab bundle is the better deal.

The Short Answer

Key Takeaway

As of October 12, 2026, only TRT Nation and Maximus clearly say on their own sites that they accept bloodwork you bring, and Defy Medical reviews outside results case by case. Both TRT Nation and Maximus cap outside labs at six months (one TRT Nation page says "typically within 120 days"), and each asks for a slightly different panel. Bringing your own labs saves real money only when someone has already paid for them; buying the same tests one at a time from a consumer lab site can cost more than a clinic's own panel.

Which Online TRT Clinics Accept Outside Labs

We checked each clinic's own website on October 12, 2026. The table lists only what each clinic says itself. These policies change, so confirm in writing before you pay for anything.

TRT Nation

TRT Nation's homepage tells new patients to "submit your own labs, or order labs with us." Its homepage FAQ says the required labs "can be up to 6 months old." Its separate FAQ page is stricter. It says labs drawn "typically within 120 days" that include the right markers may be usable. If your draw is between four and six months old, ask before you count on it.

The required markers are total testosterone, CBC, CMP, sensitive estradiol, and PSA for men over 40. You upload results through the patient portal during onboarding. Plan prices don't include labs. If you need them, the TRT bloodwork panel is $129, and you choose Labcorp or Quest at checkout. More detail is in our TRT Nation review.

Maximus

Maximus's help center calls this "BYOL" (bring your own labs) and says it's free if you already have qualifying labs. Results must be from the last six months. Its testosterone pages say bloodwork should include total testosterone, SHBG (or free testosterone), LH, PSA and hematocrit.

One catch: Maximus doesn't include follow-up labs in the subscription. It orders them automatically and charges for them separately unless you contact support to switch to BYOL. Its submission guide also warns that some protocols require specific testing methods, so outside labs aren't always accepted. See our Maximus review for the rest of the program.

Defy Medical

Defy's FAQ says a provider "may be able to review" your outside results. That depends on how recent they are, which tests were run, and whether they match Defy's panel. You send them through a secure contact form, and a patient liaison tells you whether they qualify. Defy also asks for a physical exam completed within the last six months, so ask your doctor for the exam note along with the labs.

Clinics that don't say

Henry Meds' TRT page lists $129 a month and says "Labs are included as well." That makes bringing your own labs less important there. The BiltRx, Hims, Hone, Fountain and Peter MD pages we checked didn't say whether they accept outside results. That doesn't mean they refuse them. It means you should ask support in writing before you pay a lab fee.

What Panel to Order So Every Clinic Says Yes

If you haven't picked a clinic yet, order the combination of what the two clinics with published policies ask for. One draw then covers either clinic. Most of it matches what the AUA and Endocrine Society guidelines describe (total T, LH, hematocrit, PSA over 40). The CMP and estradiol are clinic requirements, not general guideline items.

MarkerTRT NationMaximus (bring-your-own list)Notes
Total testosteroneRequiredRequiredAUA: under 300 ng/dL is a reasonable cut-off; diagnose only after two early-morning measurements on separate occasions

PSAMen over 40RequiredAUA: measure in men over 40 before starting

Guideline sources: the AUA testosterone deficiency guideline (published 2018, validity confirmed 2024) and the 2018 Endocrine Society guideline.

TRT Nation's plan page lists "Estradiol Sensitive" as its required marker, though its homepage and lab-order pages just say estradiol. Confirm the exact test name with the clinic before you order. For what each number means, see our guide to the labs telehealth providers require.

Timing matters as much as the menu

The Endocrine Society says to measure testosterone in the morning after an overnight fast, to confirm a low result with a repeat test, and not to test men who have or are recovering from an acute illness. Quest's consumer men's hormone panel likewise says morning collection is preferred and requires an 8–12 hour fast. An afternoon draw, or one taken while you're sick, doesn't meet those conditions and may be rejected or misread. Our post on why draw time skews results explains why.

How Recent Your Labs Need to Be

Six months is the outer limit at both clinics that publish one. Treat it as a ceiling, not a target.

  • Under about four months old: fits both TRT Nation's stricter "typically within 120 days" wording and Maximus's six-month window.
  • Four to six months old: within TRT Nation's homepage limit and Maximus's window, but ask TRT Nation first.
  • Over six months old: plan on a new draw at TRT Nation or Maximus. Defy and the other clinics don't publish a cut-off, so ask them.

Leave yourself some margin. Intake, review and the consult take time. TRT Nation's own page says to expect medication within 10 business days of the consult. If your labs are close to the limit, a delayed appointment can push them past it.

If you're already taking testosterone, enclomiphene or another hormone, your results reflect that treatment, not your baseline. Tell the clinic what you were taking and when you took it relative to the draw.

Where to Get the Labs Cheaper

Here's the honest part. Bringing your own labs saves money only when the labs are already paid for. If you have to buy the same tests on a consumer lab site, a clinic's bundled panel is often cheaper.

List prices on Labcorp OnDemand as of October 12, 2026:

Labcorp OnDemand testList priceWhat it covers
Total Testosterone Test$69Total T
Comprehensive Testosterone Test$159Total and free T, SHBG, albumin
Estradiol (E2) Test$79Estradiol
PSA Prostate Cancer Screening Test$69PSA
Comprehensive Health Screening$189CMP, CBC, urinalysis, lipid panel, HbA1c

Labcorp was running 25% off select tests when we checked, but sales come and go. At list price, assembling a similar set from these tests costs about $406 ($69 total T + $79 estradiol + $69 PSA + $189 for the CBC/CMP bundle). It is not an exact match. The $189 bundle also includes a urinalysis, lipid panel and HbA1c, Labcorp's page does not say its estradiol test is the "sensitive" version, and PSA is only required for men over 40. TRT Nation's own panel is $129. So, in rough order of cost:

  1. Labs your own doctor orders through insurance. If you have a physical coming up, ask whether total testosterone, LH, estradiol and PSA can go on the same order as the CBC and CMP. Coverage depends on your plan, so ask what you'll owe.
  2. Labs you've already had done. A CBC and CMP from a recent physical may cover part of what a clinic needs. You might only have to add the hormone tests.
  3. The clinic's own panel. TRT Nation's is $129. Maximus quotes $19.99–$115 for a Quest draw, depending on the panel, or $99–$99.99 for an at-home kit.
  4. Consumer lab sites. These are convenient if you want a number before you pick a clinic. Quest's basic men's hormone panel is $152 plus a $6 physician fee, and its page says collection isn't available in Arizona, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Whichever route you choose, lab fees that are part of medical care count as medical expenses under IRS Publication 502. See our TRT and FSA/HSA guide for paying with pre-tax money, and use the cost calculator to compare totals.

How to Hand Your Labs Over Without Delays

  • Send the official report. Download the PDF from the lab's patient portal. Labcorp OnDemand results go to your Labcorp Patient account. Maximus accepts PDFs, JPEG or PNG images and official lab reports, and says unreadable files may need to be uploaded again.
  • Check the details. Your name, the collection date and time, units and reference ranges should all be visible. A cropped screenshot of an app summary can leave those out.
  • Use the right channel. At TRT Nation, upload during onboarding or share with your care team. At Maximus, upload at sign-up or attach the file in a new dashboard message. At Defy, use the secure contact form.
  • Get answers in writing first. Are these labs accepted as-is? Do I still owe a lab fee? Can I bring my own labs for follow-ups too?

Bringing your own labs covers the baseline, but follow-ups keep coming. TRT Nation requires bloodwork after the first 10 weeks, six months after your first labs, and then yearly. Maximus orders follow-ups at roughly 1, 3 and 12 months, then yearly. Defy does a follow-up panel at three months and every six months after that. The AUA guideline calls for checking testosterone every 6–12 months on therapy. Budget for these in your first-year cost, or ask whether you can bring your own labs for them too.

The Bottom Line

If you have labs from the last few months that include total testosterone, a CBC, a CMP, estradiol and PSA, TRT Nation is the clearest place to use them, since its own pages say it accepts outside labs. Maximus also takes them free if you add SHBG or free T, LH and hematocrit. If you don't have labs yet, compare a clinic's bundled panel with what you'd pay elsewhere before you buy tests one at a time, because the bundle often wins.

Next steps: get your report as a PDF, check the collection date against each clinic's window, and confirm acceptance in writing. If you're still choosing a clinic, the clinic-matching quiz and our guide to getting baseline labs without a program are good places to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use labs from my regular doctor for online TRT?

Often, yes. TRT Nation and Maximus both say they accept outside labs that include their required markers, and Defy Medical reviews outside results case by case. Send the official lab report and confirm acceptance in writing before paying a lab fee.

How old can my labs be?

TRT Nation's homepage FAQ and Maximus both cap outside labs at six months, but TRT Nation's separate FAQ page says labs drawn typically within 120 days may be usable. If your draw is older than six months, expect to redo it.

Is it cheaper to buy my own labs online than to use the clinic's panel?

Not always. At Labcorp OnDemand list prices on October 12, 2026, assembling a roughly similar set of tests came to about $406 (not an exact match), versus $129 for TRT Nation's own panel. Bringing your own labs saves the most when insurance or a recent physical already covered them.

Does my outside blood draw need to be in the morning?

The AUA and Endocrine Society guidelines both call for early-morning testosterone measurements, and the Endocrine Society specifies after an overnight fast. An afternoon draw or one taken during an illness can read low, so ask the clinic how it treats non-morning results.

Can I keep bringing my own labs for follow-up testing?

At Maximus, you can contact support to switch to bring-your-own labs; otherwise follow-up labs are ordered and billed automatically. TRT Nation requires follow-up bloodwork after 10 weeks, at six months and then yearly, so ask whether outside follow-up labs are accepted.
